Demetra Baraktars, chair of the Veterans Memorial Committee, told the township the group has discussed a Hometown Heroes banner program for about two years and needs the committee to approve a location so the effort can proceed. "We're here to get your approval on where the location's gonna be because that's where we've got — we've gotten stuck and we can't advance this if we don't have a decision today on that," Baraktars said.
Dale Weingart, the committee's co-chair, said she hoped the township "can come to a decision quickly" and asked the committee to move the project forward sooner rather than later. Presenters described Nevius Boulevard as a visible, central corridor with room to expand into adjacent municipal-owned areas and park frontage.
Committee members pressed only briefly on funding and logistics. Presenters said they will return with detailed criteria, a budget plan and options for who pays for individual banners — suggesting a mix of sponsor or family payments and possible start-up support. After discussion, the township committee indicated consensus on the proposed location area so the Veterans Memorial Committee can draft implementation details and follow up with the administration.
