Comal County Commissioners Court on Oct. 1 approved a proclamation recognizing October 2026 as Mediation Awareness Month and encouraging awareness of conflict-resolution services.
A representative of the Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center described the center 's regional role in serving Comal, Guadalupe, Hays and Caldwell counties and said the organization mediates about 220 cases annually and offers services to residents who cannot pay, estimating the center provided over $20,000 worth of mediation services to low-income residents in the past year.
The proclamation emphasized mediation's role in saving court time and taxpayer dollars and noted the center also provides continuing legal education for attorneys and mediators. Commissioners moved and seconded approval and the motion carried.
Court members did not take further action on funding or specific local program changes at the meeting; the presentation served to highlight available dispute-resolution resources and the county's recognition of those services.
