A deputy speaking for Constable Precinct 3 told Comal County Commissioners Court on Oct. 1 that deputies will wear a new pink breast-cancer‑awareness patch during October and outlined an expanded community engagement program aimed at improving visibility and outreach.
"Beginning October 1, our deputies will wear this new patch in place of our old standard patch. It is a simple and visible act, but it carries serious purpose," the deputy said, describing the patch as honoring survivors and signaling support in the community. The deputy said the initiative is personal for many in public safety and stressed that wearing the patch "does not change how we serve. It does not change how we answer the call, but it does change what the public sees when they look at our uniform."
The deputy also described an outreach program built on four pillars — presence, preparedness, partnership and professional visibility — and introduced a school-focused "Green Ninjas" program in which deputies distribute colored tokens and partner businesses provide gift cards to encourage student participation and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and youth.
The court received the presentation and took no formal funding action tied to the patch or outreach program at this meeting; commissioners thanked the presenter for the initiative and support for community engagement.
