The Board approved a sign variance allowing increased wall signage at a Schillinger Road commercial property but explicitly excluded the proposed electronic message center from its approval.
Hayden Oliver of the sign company described a proposal for five wall signs and an electronic message center, noting prior owners had multiple signs and the building’s topography creates visibility challenges. Staff and board members pointed out residences directly across the street and the ordinance prohibition on signs above the roofline in some cases. One board member moved to approve the application but to exclude the electronic message board; the motion passed and the applicant agreed to return with a dimming/nighttime plan should they later seek digital messaging.
The decision allows the applicant to continue with non‑digital wall signs and requires compliance with dimming and other sign conditions spelled out in the staff report.
