County attorney Miss Davis told commissioners the resolution on the agenda is a formality to declare the election results approving continuation of the special purpose local option sales tax and to preserve the county 27s right to proceed with superior-court validation papers should it decide to issue general obligation debt.
"This is on your agenda today, as a precursor to proceeding with filing, a validation, papers and a process with the superior court for purposes of potentially issuing these general obligation debt bonds that were approved by the voters at the last election," Miss Davis said, and asked that the resolution be forwarded to the next agenda for formal action.
Miss Davis clarified the resolution itself does not obligate the county to issue debt or create contractual liabilities; rather, it documents certified election results so the county can preserve the option to validate the authorization in court if needed. The chair said the item will be discussed further when all commissioners (including Seth) are present and indicated they would move the item forward for the next agenda.
