Grant staff reported the county currently manages 51 active grants and approximately $25.8 million in award funds to oversee, and they described a pipeline of pending applications.
"We did apply for that initiative... We expect an announcement early October, hopefully," grant staff said regarding a housing designation; staff also said a site visit for another program is scheduled for Oct. 16. On housing capital, staff described a Phase 3/4 College Park application to Georgia's DCA asking for $10,000,000 with county and city local match commitments of $1,000,000 and $200,000 respectively.
The grants presentation listed other pending projects — FEMA HMGP and Corps applications for drainage, a congressional appropriation request for a historic canal restoration, and a total pending application sum noted as roughly $22,000,000. Grant managers emphasized grants have significant compliance burdens and that the team recently added two compliance coordinators to manage reporting and federal requirements.
