City of Las Vegas Neighborhood Services staff told the Senior Citizens Advisory Board on Oct. 1 that a HUD-funded Older Adults Home Modification Program is underway with a goal to complete 110 home modifications before the end of March 2028.
"With this program we were able to do, 110 home modifications and we have until the ending of March of 20 28 to complete the 110, homes," Neighborhood Services Administrator David Balberti said during the presentation. Staff said the work aims to reduce fall risk and improve accessibility so residents can age in place rather than move to assisted facilities.
At the meeting staff provided early program metrics: 32 cases submitted, 25 assessed, 18 in progress and 7 completed. Rosendo Moreno, introduced by staff as the program manager, described common modifications — grab bars, raised toilets, handrails, temporary ramps and tub cuts — and said an occupational therapist performs in-home assessments to create scopes of work for contractors.
Board members asked about program capacity; staff said the current intake leaves room to serve roughly 80–90 more homes and that pacing is on track for the grant deadline. The board agreed to help amplify outreach at neighborhood events and via ward newsletters.
