At the start of the public-comment period at a Lake County meeting, resident Justin Quayle alleged county officials retaliated against him after he filed complaints and said he was removed from his cannabis license.
Quayle told the board, "Please don't send code enforcement to my house." He said filing complaints led to a cascade of consequences, including losing his license and strained personal relationships: "I lost him as a a friend because we we can't communicate because I got kicked off my license because I filed complaints." Quayle also accused officials of creating a system of "double taxation" and alleged grant fraud, saying, "I figured out how to make 8,000,000 off of people double paying." He urged the county to coordinate enforcement against businesses that file complaints and said he wanted to teach others how the process unfolded.
The comment included references to several individuals (identified in the comment as "King Patrick" and "Patrick Sullivan") and to a person named Eddie; the speaker described living with a mental disability and said the enforcement actions had caused personal distress. Quayle repeatedly framed his remarks as a plea for transparency and a desire to avoid litigation: "How do I legally get back on my license? I don't wanna sue. I wanna teach people what I experienced here."
The chair thanked Quayle after his remarks and moved on to solicit other speakers. The transcript records no response from board members or staff during the public-comment period and no formal action was taken at that time.
