The East Hampton Town Board scheduled a public hearing for Oct. 15 to consider acquisition of a portion of the Wayne Scott property at 104 Wainscott Northwest Road, listing a proposed purchase price of $36,000,300. The resolution announced that roughly 5 acres are proposed for municipal purposes and the remaining acreage for parks and recreation, and that the town would use Community Preservation Fund (CPF) authority for part of the acquisition.
Several residents during the public portion urged earlier notice and more accessible documents; longtime commenter David Bridal said the public notice and supporting documents should be posted with more lead time to allow meaningful review of a complex purchase. "Give the public some time to collect the documents, view the documents, understand this complex proposal," he said. The board retained the hearing date and directed staff to post hearing materials per usual notice procedures.
