Several members of the public used the three-minute comment period to press the board for more frequent, transparent reporting and for stronger oversight of contracts and grants. One commenter urged the county to require monthly status reports so the board and public can catch discrepancies earlier.
"I'm just asking if if there's a possibility of that," Sherry Falge asked about monthly statements. Another speaker asked staff to re-examine contract deliverables and to seek reimbursements when contractors do not complete work as required. A number of callers repeated concerns about cannabis-tax administration and asked whether previously projected long-term deficits remained valid after recent changes.
Supervisors and staff responded that the board had already begun asking administration for more frequent reconciliations and that a Nov. 17 follow-up would focus on position allocations and reporting improvements. The board did not adopt a separate reporting schedule in the meeting but directed staff to present reconciled reports and recommended process changes in upcoming meetings.
