Commissioner Alicia Reese introduced By Leave No. 3 to appoint Jeffrey Harris as her chief of staff and summarized his public-service background. Reese said Harris brings extensive experience, including 31 years as a Cincinnati firefighter, six years with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration, and service as executive director of a professional firefighters association.
After brief remarks from colleagues and a second, the board voted to approve the appointment. Commissioner Denise Treehouse seconded the motion and commissioners welcomed Harris to county service. "Mister Harris brings more than 4 decades of experience in public service, public safety, community leadership to the position," Reese said while introducing the resolution.
The appointment was adopted by the board; commissioners expressed support and noted Harris's community ties and experience in emergency response and labor negotiations.
