Anthony Burgess, senior program manager for Public Works Roads, presented the second workshop on proposed Public Works Road Standards and outlined next steps. Burgess said staff aims to publish a track-changes packet with responses to comments for the formal hearing and that the hearing could be held Oct. 20 if staff can meet publication deadlines, or otherwise on Nov. 17. He said the project is SEPA-exempt, not a change to development regulations or comprehensive planning, and does not require Department of Commerce review.
Burgess described outreach to the Kitsap Builders Association and broader lists via the county's GovDelivery system to solicit feedback from engineers, contractors and homeowners. He said staff will provide a response matrix with the hearing packet and noted the department will continue iterative edits into 2027 with a view to full adoption and continued refinements in 2028.
