Commission staff says 27 applied for October police exam; continuous recruitment planned

Carissa South told the commission that the police officer exam for October is being handled as part of a continuous recruitment effort and that the last filing date for the current list was yesterday. "We have 27 applicants," she said on the record, and staff explained that successful applicants from future examinations will be interfiled with the October results to build a larger eligibility list.

The commission was told this continuous recruitment approach follows practices used by other municipalities and that the next full exam is likely in spring 2027. Staff said the continuous process should produce a bigger combined list rather than letting the October list expire before new candidates are added.
