Senate committee honors outgoing chair Senator Dan Roberts with formal resolution

The Contract Review Committee opened its session by recognizing the committee’s outgoing chair. A member read a senate resolution commending Senator Dan Roberts for his public service and leadership, saying in part, “Senator Dan Roberts is 1 of these outstanding individuals.” The resolution cites his election to the Alabama Senate in 2018 and notes he directed review of more than 2,000 contracts worth over $4,000,000,000 during his tenure.

Colleagues used a moment of personal privilege to thank Roberts and another departing member, Senator Butler, for their years of service. Members praised Roberts’ mentorship and committee leadership; Representative England, among others, offered personal remarks and presented a small personal gift. The committee then proceeded to the regular contract-review business and closed the session with farewell comments and an adjournment.
