Chrissy Blystone, president of Lago Vista United Baseball and Softball, asked the City Council on Thursday to pause consideration of a proposed amendment to the league’s field use agreement and to provide records clarifying how utilities and repairs would be allocated.
“I'm Chrissy Blystone, president of the Lago Vista United Baseball and Softball,” Blystone told council, explaining that the league — which identifies itself in the packet as LVUB — had believed its contract extended through 2025 and that league leaders had not requested the amendment now before the city. She said the draft amendment appeared to move utility, trash and repair obligations onto the volunteer nonprofit without clearly distinguishing routine upkeep from major infrastructure replacement.
Blystone asked council to provide the last 12 months of water and electricity bills, an explanation of which meters serve which facilities, and a clearer, capped definition of any league contribution. “So before we responsibly consider utility obligations, I'm asking for the last 12 months of water and electricity bills,” she said.
Mayor and staff told Blystone the city would set up a meeting with the league and other youth associations to review field history, schedules and the proposed language. Council later adopted a motion to work with the Little Leagues to set up a meeting with staff within the next few weeks; the motion passed unanimously.
Why it matters: The amendment could change the financial obligations for a volunteer nonprofit, which in turn can affect registration fees and participation. Council and staff agreed to provide the records Blystone requested and to meet with league leadership before taking final action.
