Council ratified emergency repairs to a wastewater lift station and authorized the city manager to execute documents and make associated budget transfers.
"I move to approve agenda item 8.1 and ratify the emergency action taken by city staff to authorize repairs to the wastewater treatment plant lift station discharge piping including the expenditure of up to 139,000 to Mills Construction LLC based on the finding that the active pipe being failure presented an immediate risk to public health and safety and to the continued reliable operation of the wastewater system," said the Mayor Pro Tem when presenting the action. The motion passed unanimously.
Public Works staff confirmed funding sources were prior-year amounts that were not spent and that the repairs addressed an immediate operational risk to the wastewater system. The motion authorized the city manager to execute documents and finish related budget transfers.
Why it matters: The lift-station piping presented an immediate risk to system reliability and public health; the council ratified an emergency repair contract to prevent service disruptions and protect public health.
