The Planning Commission recommended an amendment to the 2040 comprehensive plan to align land-use maps with a rezoning and site-plan approval for the Sundance Greens 12th edition. Staff said the change corrects an omission: the zoning map had been updated earlier but the comprehensive-plan land-use map had not been amended to match.
Resident Eric Supple told the commission he had flagged an error in the mailed public notice and argued the notice described the change incorrectly; he urged tabling for closer review of impacts. Supple said the difference between a designation listed as "parks and open space" and "golf course" carries different expectations for permanence and use and thus should not be handled as a simple clerical correction. "The public notice is fundamentally misleading," he said.
Commissioners debated whether the item was a clerical correction — staff called it a map-fix that should have accompanied the August rezoning — or an item requiring additional public outreach. After discussion, the commission voted 4–1 to recommend the comprehensive-plan amendment to the City Council. Commissioner Keith recorded the dissent, citing public-notice and precedent concerns.
The commission also asked staff to ensure the record to council reflects the public comments on notice and to provide clearer documentation tying the zoning change to the comp-plan amendment.
