Members proposed a menu of subcommittees to move the task force from broad goals to implementable work: data collection, filing and forms, records and case management, staffing and funding analysis, public defense, end‑user experience (including interpreters and accessibility), equity and AI/technology governance. Mo Johnston urged a legal‑feasibility committee to examine what reforms are possible via court rulemaking.
Representative Taylor and Chief Justice Stevens said WSBA will help with research and public dissemination and that leaders will collate the whiteboard of topics into an organized sign‑up sheet. "I would like to do is kind of, open up the conversation around people's experiences, so that we can start to think about how we organize subcommittees and engagement on solution finding," Rep. Taylor said. Stevens asked the group to imagine goals without immediately imposing constraints: "What would you try to do if you knew you could not fail?" The co‑chairs will distribute the subcommittee list and sign‑up instructions ahead of the next meeting on Dec. 15.
