Elizabeth McCrory, executive director of the Coliseum Central Business Improvement District, spoke during public comment to report on recent BID actions and to urge council attention to local projects.
McCrory said the BID — which she said represents 650 business and property owners and $752 million in commercial property — voted to endorse a pattern book that will move to the Planning Commission and ultimately to the council. She said the BID also voted to recommend CIP projects, including an extension of Coliseum Drive to Butler Farm Road to avoid landlocking major employers such as Sentara CarePlex. "In September, there were 2,871 riders," McCrory said when summarizing recent bus ridership counts; "in October, there were 2,163 riders." She also announced the 15th annual Coliseum Central holiday parade on Nov. 23 at 9:30 a.m.
McCrory asked the council to consider the BID’s recommendations as part of planning and CIP deliberations. Her comments were informational; no immediate council votes or directives were recorded in the meeting transcript.
