Council members recognized Steve Edwards with a Neighborhood Advocate award for his recent service as chair of the Neighborhood Commission and as a faith-based representative who led outreach and neighborhood organizing. Jonathan McBride summarized Edwards' work, saying Edwards helped grow the city's registered neighborhood organization program from 15 to 45 groups and led efforts in the Magnolia neighborhood to connect faith organizations with residents.
Councilman Moffitt presented the award on behalf of the mayor and council, thanking Edwards for his leadership and community service. "It is such a a great honor to, present this award on behalf of our mayor and the members of city council, and we thank you for your great work in the neighborhood commission and the community," Moffitt said. Councilors and staff thanked Edwards and noted his volunteer work with the Home Repair Blitz and other neighborhood initiatives.
