The committee recommended CR 84 20 26, a resolution directing the County Economic Development Corporation to develop and offer a commercial real estate investment education program covering property identification, financing, purchasing, regulatory requirements and property management.
Sponsor Council member Adam Stafford said the program responds to residents' concerns about retail quality and that many commercial property owners do not live in the county; he said the program would empower residents to pursue commercial property ownership and help revitalize retail corridors. "This will help us to revitalize and reinvest in properties across the county," Stafford said. County staff reported that the Office of Law found the legislation in proper legislative form and that there were no public speakers signed up.
The committee recorded a 4-0 vote to advance the resolution for further consideration by the full Council.
