Staff presented CB131, an act to reserve a share of tax revenue associated with an immersive entertainment venue for impacted communities. The presentation said the ordinance would reserve 5% of all tax revenue attributable to the venue annually for use within a six-mile radius of the venue and allow the funds to be used for infrastructure improvements, public safety, sanitation, economic and community development, including housing and other public services.
The sponsor moved an amendment to add an uncodified acknowledgement of support from the county executive; the amendment passed by roll call (motion carries 6–0–1 with one abstention by Councilmember Ivy on several votes). The council then voted to move CB131 as amended. Staff said the removed section noted earlier was taken out of the bill and that the county executive’s support could be acknowledged via an uncodified section.
