Road and Bridge Administrator Mike Brooks presented the county 2026–27 proposed road schedule, reporting 48.92 miles of overlay work and an increased focus on major-artery roads that need preventive attention rather than larger reconstruction.
"For the 2027 year, our overlay projects comes out to 48.92 miles," Brooks said, and described plans to prioritize roads such as Zion Hill and Drybroke and to reconstruct Ingle Road with a full base replacement because of its poor condition. He told the court that addressing low-water crossings (Schwartzlose, Shortcutt, Yokoswitch roads and others) and drainage issues is a priority to prevent washouts and future larger repairs.
Brooks also outlined special projects including bridge work (Blue Park Bridal), a Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department parking-lot repair, and interlocal work with New Berlin under a proposed five-day allocation if an interlocal agreement is approved. Commissioners discussed cost-sharing and lease/ILA implications for work on leased properties and asked for more detailed cost estimates for any site-improvement work that could affect county property value or lease terms.
After discussion the court approved the 2026–27 Guadalupe County annual road plan and directed staff to return with any needed estimates and agreements for parking-lot improvements on non-county property.
