The Williamson County commissioners’ court voted to lower the authorized bond amount for Somerset Hills Road District Number 4 from $70,000,000 to $53,000,000 and to codify that the district will not use district funds for future lane expansions on Ronald Reagan within the district. Commissioner Covey introduced the resolution and moved approval; the court approved the motion 5–0.
Commissioner Covey framed the change as a response to homeowner concerns about extra taxes and to reflect what has actually been reimbursable. “We’re proposing that we reduce the 70,000,000 down to 53,000,000,” Covey said, adding the change leaves “a little bit of cushion” for any remaining reimbursements. County auditor Julie Kiley confirmed the county will maintain a 29¢ tax-rate cap used to evaluate future debt issuance and said reimbursements to the original developer will continue over several years.
The resolution also includes a provision that the road district will not pay for any additional lanes of Ronald Reagan between Williams Drive and 195. The court recorded the motion as carrying 5–0 and the resolution will be filed with the attorney general’s office, as the auditor noted.
