The Davis County Commission voted unanimously to approve a contract permitting the Davis Education Foundation to host a fundraising event at Arena 2 on Dec. 2.
Neil Geddes, representing the county attorney’s office, introduced the contract. Kat Smith, who identified herself as the foundation’s warehouse manager, described the foundation’s work supporting students in the district and said, “We currently have approximately 1,300 students experiencing homelessness, and approximately 200 of those students are what we call unaccompanied minors.” She said the foundation relies on community support and access to county spaces to sustain teen centers at high schools.
A commissioner moved to approve item 5 and the motion was seconded and adopted unanimously. Commissioners and staff also offered public praise for the foundation’s organization and efforts.
The approval allows the foundation to coordinate with local supporters and use the venue subject to the contract’s conditions; no licensing fees or special conditions beyond standard venue use were specified in the meeting record.
