Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones proclaimed Oct. 6 to be "San Antonio Neighbors Together night," calling the initiative a citywide effort to bring residents and city departments together for neighborhood-level community building.
"We had over 349 neighborhoods that signed up," San Antonio Police Chief Salome said, describing the program as an opportunity for residents, police and city staff to strengthen relationships and share safety resources. Chief Salome recognized staff lead Yolanda Ambrose for organizing the kickoff at San Pedro Springs Park.
Council members from across the city praised the event as a chance to connect residents with officers and city services. Councilwoman Villagran said her South Side constituents "look forward to it every year." Council member Munguia thanked organizers and said such events help keep the city "connected" to residents.
The proclamation directs city departments to continue partnering on neighborhood nights and highlights the October 3 kickoff at San Pedro Springs Park. Council members said they expect the event to grow and to reinforce local partnerships between residents, neighborhood associations and public safety personnel.
