The Civil Service Commission convened Oct. 1 for routine personnel business and unanimously approved the minutes from its Sept. 17 meeting after a motion and second on the record.
Commission staff presented several docket items for commission review, including appointments to the classified service (items 3.01–3.10), promotion-without-exam requests (items 6.01–6.04), eligible-list approvals (items 7.01–7.04) and table-of-organization amendment requests (items 8.01–8.02). The city manager’s office asked to amend the Senior Emergency 911 Operator classification probationary period in item 5.01 from 12 months to nine months for commission consideration. Human Resources asked to withdraw item 7.03 from the eligible-list slate.
The commission did not record extended debate on these docket presentations during the public portion; commissioners said they would follow up in executive session where appropriate. The clerk noted that, per the commission’s procedure, deliberations on certain items would be held in closed session and that published results and board documents would be available on the City of Cincinnati Human Resources website.
Votes and actions at a glance: the Sept. 17 minutes were approved on a motion and second (motion moved on the record and recorded as approved). Several other items were presented as requests for approval; recorded formal votes on those items were not taken on the public record during the portion of the meeting in the transcript.
