Madler, identified as project manager, asked the commission to authorize staff to solicit statements of qualifications from engineering consultants to support capital projects at the Miami County Airport, explaining that the county’s current on-call firm (Olson) is at the end of its term. "Assuming that it is authorized this afternoon, we will advertise the RFQ tomorrow, October 1... The RFQ opening will be October 22... the selection committee will consist of the Board of County Commission, the board for the airport, and then Mr. Kroll and myself," Madler said.
The proposed scope includes preliminary engineering, surveys, geotechnical and environmental studies, final design, construction documentation, bidding, and construction observation. Madler outlined a tentative schedule that would present a formal award to the commission on Nov. 4 and bring a contract for execution on Nov. 18. The commission voted to approve the solicitation unanimously.
The authorization allows staff to advertise and follow county purchasing policy, with selection using quality-based selection and formal award planning in early November. Commissioners asked no substantive follow-up questions during the discussion.
