Mackenzie asked the board for approval to purchase seven workstations, laptops and nine docking stations to replace aging equipment at the Health Department. She said some devices have failed this year and the staff have been carrying both a desktop and a Surface Pro; moving to one laptop plus a docking station would simplify workflows and reduce sign-ins.
Mackenzie told the commission she had two grants supporting the purchase, one with an approximate balance of $24,066.15 that sunsets today and another more recent grant that could provide additional funding. She said Thomas (IT) estimated the cost for the quoted equipment at $21,448.28 and requested a modest buffer for price fluctuations: "So the estimated difference was the 20, $2,617.87," she said, noting market prices for workstations have risen in recent weeks. Mackenzie asked the commission to add the purchase to the afternoon action agenda so procurement could proceed while grant funds remain available.
