Public-works staff (Speaker 5) reported several recent water-line problems, including a six-inch break between Sixth and Seventh streets that was fixed quickly and a previously undetected 10-inch leak that was discovered during hydrovac work and repaired under warranty. "They spotted the line with their hydrovac and then a bell, it was actually leaking with a 10 inch, the new one," the staff member said.
Staff and council members discussed the warranty timeline: Speaker 1 said the warranty runs through November of next year. Staff also said they will monitor other locations where installations were performed and coordinate with the original contractors if further issues appear. The staff member said the city has submitted residuals and testing data to Victoria and hopes to be released from the water notice once regulators review the samples.
