The Corporation for Local Development voted to renew a one-year contract with Kingdom Community Consultants LLC to provide youth vocational services through the Booker T. Washington Vocational Institute.
Speaker 4 told the board the program offers career-readiness classes during the fall and a hands-on, five-days-a-week summer program; recent summer enrollment was about 22–25 students. The board approved the resolution by voice vote with no recorded objections.
Board members praised the program and urged colleagues to visit and help recruit eligible students. “They do the hands on training and all of the trades that we’re usually discussing when we talk about workforce development,” one committee member said, urging site visits to support recruitment.
The resolution was described as a renewal under the RFP issued last year; staff said the RFP allows successive one-year contracts. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript; the chair announced the item passed unanimously.
