JLBC staff presented the Attorney General’s FY2027 expenditure plan for $17 million in coordinated reentry planning services and the committee voted to give it a favorable review with the JLBC staff provision.
Jacob Cross Mayhew (JLBC staff) told members the budget appropriated $17 million to the Attorney General’s office for coordinated reentry planning services; $3 million comes from a remediation subaccount subject to committee review but the attorney general submitted the entire expenditure plan for review. Cross Mayhew said $2 million will be distributed to counties with existing programs (Coconino, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pima, Pinal and Yavapai), $2 million is designated to La Paz County to establish a new coordinated reentry program, and $1 million is set aside for a statewide reentry database to track recidivism across county lines.
Staff noted no RFP has been opened and the Arizona Sheriffs Association submitted a letter expressing interest in receiving grant funds. The committee approved the favorable review with the staff provision.
