The Florida Virtual School Board authorized publication of 16 proposed policy changes, giving public notice and later adopting actions on both the proposed policies and the FY26–27 student code of conduct.
Chief Legal Officer Dr. David Daggetta summarized the revisions as largely technical amendments to align FLVS policy with 2026 statutory and state-board-rule changes. He highlighted updates to counselor-evaluation criteria, removal of an outdated whistleblower statutory reference, changes to credential counts for career and technical education, provisions allowing absences for religious instruction, updated epinephrine delivery-device language per statute, revisions tied to HB 757 on transfer of threat-assessment reports to postsecondary institutions, and additional mental‑health training requirements.
Daggetta asked trustees to authorize publication of the proposed policy text and public notice of a hearing. Chair opened the public hearing for agenda items 9.1 and 9.2; no callers participated. The board made an omnibus motion to adopt the recommended actions on 9.1 and 9.2; the motion carried as recorded in the transcript.
"Out of all of these, although the list seems lengthy, we're talking about...16 amendments to policies, that simply were amended to keep up with 2026 legislative changes and a state board rule," Daggetta said.
The board’s action moves the proposed revisions through the required public‑notice and hearing process and adopts the student code of conduct for FY26–27 as presented in the public meeting record.
