John Griffin, identified in the meeting record as the project's landscape architect, told the committee a field survey verified the historic-tree inventory for the site.
"We have had the surveyor go back out and verify the species of the trees that we identified as historic. 3 of them are live oaks, 1 was turkey oak, which doesn't qualify as a historic tree. So we have 4 historic trees then on-site," Griffin said.
The project representative and Griffin discussed how mitigation would be allocated. The applicant said it intends to provide full mitigation for the five-acre front parcel that will be developed now and to leave the TPA (tree protection/buffer) area preserved on the southern parcel. The applicant summarized mitigation math as "ended up being, like, a 104 inches left over divided by the 30," which the committee characterized as nominal.
Staff and committee members requested the applicant include updated mitigation calculations, TPA mapping and any engineering responses in the resubmittal so staff can complete its review before forwarding the preliminary plat to the planning board.
