Maria Kramer, director of the Office of Grant Management, with Allison Hartshorn, opioid restitution fund manager, recommended FY27 awards from the county's opioid restitution fund totaling $170,341.97.
The recommendation included $145,342 for community‑based prevention initiatives and a $2,499.09 (plus $0.97) allocation for a sheriff's‑office employee wellness program, subject to execution of grant agreements and compliance with performance metrics and reporting requirements in the county's opioid abatement plan. Kramer noted this was the first Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) and the awards meet the abatement plan's guidelines and performance metrics submitted to the state.
Commissioners confirmed that the opioid restitution funds could be used countywide (not restricted by zip code) and that the sheriff's wellness program was not being funded from cannabis‑related proceeds; the board moved, seconded and approved the recommendations by voice vote.
