Altaf reported that user acceptance testing of the CALIS drafting module ran for more than a month and concluded Sept. 25. The reviser's office identified several workflow-related deficiencies; Altaf said the vendor has been tasked to resolve those issues within days and the team will continue testing.
"We have been conducting, intense and thorough user acceptance testing of the drafting module of the CALIS project, that concluded September 25," Altaf said. "Based on those results, the reviser office has identified several workflow related deficiencies, which we have tasked the vendor to resolve within next few days. We will continue to test in the meantime and work with the vendor in resolving those issues." Senator Sykes asked about vendor responsiveness; Altaf said vendor engagement has improved and multiple vendor staff have worked onsite to address problems.
Why it matters: CALIS supports bill drafting and legislative operations; members emphasized that the system must be reliable to avoid disruption in the next legislative session. The chair noted the goal remains to go live in the next session but cautioned staff and vendors must confirm readiness before launch.
Next steps: the vendor will address identified deficiencies on an expedited timetable, and staff will continue user acceptance testing; the commission expects to revisit readiness before the legislative session.
