New executive director introduced at Kaufman County children's shelter

Kaufman County commissioners heard the introduction of Delena as the new executive director of the Kaufman County Children’s Shelter during the September 29 meeting.

A shelter representative said Delena "is the new executive director at the Kaufman County children's shelter" and described her as an experienced child-welfare professional with more than 15 years in the field. Delena thanked the court and said, "I am just honored to be here." She told commissioners she intends to "implement some new changes and some growth" while honoring the shelter's history.

Commissioners and shelter board members said they expect to collaborate with Delena and county departments on shelter needs, including security and human-resources coordination. The introduction was part of opening announcements and required no formal court action.
