Mayor Miriam Dennis read a slate of proclamations at the Sept. 29 Live Oak City Council meeting recognizing several awareness dates and local partnerships.
The mayor proclaimed Oct. 5, 2026, as National World Teachers' Day in Live Oak and thanked Great Hearts Live Oak; Cynthia Adela, representing the school, thanked the city and praised local teachers. The mayor also proclaimed October 2026 as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and called on residents to prioritize screening and early detection.
Council and staff also proclaimed the 42nd annual National Night Out and National Crime Prevention Month to highlight police–community partnerships, read a Fire Prevention Week proclamation emphasizing the safe charging of lithium-ion batteries, and proclaimed October 2026 as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month while noting cooperation between the Live Oak Police Department and Bexar County community advocates.
"Our teachers work so incredibly hard," Cynthia Adela said after the teachers proclamation. The proclamations were ceremonial recognitions recorded in the meeting minutes.
