The Lauderdale County Board of Education approved several overnight travel requests during its Sept. 29 meeting. Employee travel approvals include attendance at the ACTM Conference in Montgomery on Nov. 5–6, 2026; a Work Based Learning Certification Course in Montgomery on Sept. 21–22, 2026; the AASPA Fall Drive-In in Alabaster on Oct. 22–23, 2026; and the ALA Case Conference in Orange Beach on Oct. 4–7, 2026.
The minutes identify specific employees authorized to attend: Jamie Hines and Jennifer Kelley (Brooks High) for ACTM; Miranda Hill (Wilson High) for the Work Based Learning course; Libby Johnson (Central Office) for the AASPA event; and Katherine Hester (Central Office) for the ALA conference. Expense responsibility is recorded for each trip and includes local school funds, Board General Funds and Special Education Funds as appropriate. (SEG 021–028)
The board also approved a student overnight trip: one male Wilson High School FBLA student, chaperoned by Jordan Harper (Brooks High teacher), to attend the Junior Leadership Development Conference in Birmingham on Oct. 7–8, 2026; expenses will be paid from Career Tech Funds. (SEG 029–032)
