HRT to realign Route 115 on Nov. 12, expand outreach to affected riders

HRT staff told the council that outreach for service changes planned Nov. 12 began Oct. 17 with pop-up events at the Hampton Transit Center and that updated schedules and maps are posted online. Antoinette White said the intention of the change is to join the strongest segments of Routes 117 and 120 with Route 115 to reduce required transfers for riders traveling to key destinations.

White described multiple outreach channels — email, text, social media, station announcements and distribution at institutional partners including the VA Medical Center and Hampton University — and said staff will continue pop-up events at transit centers. Council members asked how the changes would affect transfer patterns and data collection; staff indicated they will monitor impacts and continue communications as riders adapt.
