Hampton City Council unanimously approves consent agenda including grant funding and $5,000 trail gift

The Hampton City Council unanimously approved the consent agenda after the clerk read a package of items amending the fiscal year 2022 council-approved budget to accept and appropriate grant funding for continued prosecution of assault and violent crimes in Hampton and to support voluntary, evidence-based maternal, infant, and early childhood home visiting services for at-risk families.

The consent agenda also accepted a $5,000 gift from Tyla Matson to be used for maintenance and enhancement of the Matson Trail and Shelter, approved honorary recognition of coach Mike Smith with a sign on Darling Stadium’s scoreboard, and approved the minutes from two council meetings. The clerk moved to approve the consent agenda and Mayor Tuck seconded; council members recorded “Aye” and the motion passed unanimously.

Councilwoman Brown briefly highlighted the Matson Trail gift, thanked the donor and volunteers, and encouraged residents to use the trail. "It's really a beautiful trail and widely used, by citizens, out walking," she said. The meeting record shows no public comments and no further business; Mayor Tuck adjourned the meeting.
