The Hampton City Council adopted the consent agenda unanimously, accepting a donation of about 38.7 acres from the O'Rourke family and approving routine administrative items. The consent list also included a utility easement to Dominion Power on city land along Orchid Avenue, approval of minutes, reappropriation of a $23,000 donation from the FBI to fund repairs at the Hampton police weapons range, and a typographical correction to an ordinance related to Halloween trick-or-treat hours.
City manager acknowledged Mark Rinaldi, who was in the audience representing the O'Rourke family, and provided the parcel detail: "That 38, 0.7 plus or minus acres that the clerk just mentioned," the manager said, "had a 2017 value of $492,100. It is a property that is adjacent to our Hampton Golf Course and can be used for the benefit of all Hampton citizens in the future." Council adopted the consent items by voice vote; the clerk read the items and the roll showed unanimous approval.
