EDC launches Facebook, Instagram and builds business contact database

Chair told commissioners the EDC has reactivated a Facebook page (East Granby Economic Development Commission) and launched an Instagram account (EG Develop); membership on the Facebook page has grown to about 110, with weekly additions. Committee members agreed the social accounts should be paired with the mailer work and a Constant Contact subscription to layer outreach across channels.

Chair also outlined work to create a town-hosted business contact database sourced from the tax assessor records with a curated subset for outreach, and said they found open-source software and can serve as the administrator while the town IT vendor addresses installation, access and security. A Committee member cautioned that past attempts at a long-term maintained list struggled because no one committed to ongoing administration.
