Elizabeth Emery (identified by the board as a public commenter) updated the board on canvassing and outreach ahead of the district's teacher pay and school safety referendum.
Emery said LCA held its first canvassing day in Claremont and planned another canvassing event the coming Saturday, with phone banking and outreach to community groups. She said yard signs and door hangers were expected later in the week and invited district staff to request materials.
Emery explained the difference between the ratification vote for instructional employees and the public referendum: "The key difference is that ratification is a vote by instructional employees on the negotiating agreement, while the referendum is a public vote by Lake County registered voters on local funding for teacher pay and school safety." She reminded the board the referendum is scheduled for Nov. 3 and that early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 31; she also said ballots for the Sept. 30 ratification will be available to instructional staff at schools and certain district sites.
