At the public comment portion of the meeting, Mr. Boe told the Lake County School Board he had filed a written complaint on Sept. 23 alleging unequal treatment of an eligible female wrestler and asked the board to investigate whether subsequent employment action was retaliatory under Title IX.
"On September 23, I challenged what I reasonably believed was unequal treatment of an eligible female wrestler," Mr. Boe said. He told the board that the next day a recommendation was made to terminate his employment: "The next day, September 24, I received recommendation terminated my employment." He asked the board to examine whether the timing and communications between district staff and administrators justified an investigation before any final employment decision.
Mr. Boe also described conflicting accounts he said he received earlier the same morning about whether girls wrestling programs were allowed in the district. He said Assistant Superintendent Guido Zamora later told him Southlake High School has girls wrestling and that the student (identified in his remarks as "JW") could participate at Southlake if Leesburg did not field a team. Mr. Boe asked who originally relayed the statements restricting girls wrestling and requested the board determine whether written district policy supports the earlier statements he received.
