City staff told the Parkland Parks & Recreation advisory board that Wedge Preserve Park is nearing substantial completion, with staff targeting November for the second lift of asphalt and a later date for a formal ribbon-cutting and grand opening. Christine Garcia, senior director of operational services and projects, said the park’s amenities will include a playground with safety surfacing, a ninja‑warrior course, a mini village modeled on Parkland City Hall and a two‑story tower with an upper deck.
"We are still on target for substantial completion in November," Garcia said, adding that staff will share a schedule of activities for a full day of festivities once dates are finalized. She also noted some light fixtures for a new parking lot may have longer lead times and that striping and thermoplastic work will follow a curing period after an Oct. 5 asphalt lift. Staff said they may open the lot if sufficient lighting from nearby sports fields is available.
