At the start of the meeting Kevin Casey, a 30-year Dublin resident, renewed a prior request that the city be more transparent about its use of Placer AI location-analytics and said the disclosure page is buried in the website footer. "Availability is not notice," Casey said, urging that the city use the same channels it uses to promote events to tell residents what is measured and how to limit sharing.
Casey asked that a council member move to refer two items to staff for written reports this fall: (1) publicizing the disclosure page via standard city communication channels and (2) excluding residential addresses when report boundaries are drawn near homes. "I'm asking that a single member of this city council move to refer these 2 items to staff for a report back to council this fall with a written disposition of both," he said. Mayor Ambrose Grooms noted staff and legal counsel would follow up; Casey's comments were entered into the record.
