Board members discussed and prepared to sign a MERP contract related to planned building work at the town office. The contractor intends to cut through the ceiling, remove the furnace and use temporary heating tanks while completing work before winter, and the board plans to rent storage pods to hold office contents during construction.
"He's going to obviously take the furnace out and they'll be using their own temporary heat with some temporary tanks while they're working here," the chair said when describing the contractor's plan. Members discussed where to stage storage pods so they would not block snowplow access or fire vehicle routes. The board asked staff to coordinate a moving day and to be mindful of winter conditions when choosing pod placement.
The board reported they have sent the contract to the town attorney for review and expect to sign and submit the agreement shortly.
