Kevin Casey, a 30-year resident, told the council the city's Placer AI disclosure page is buried in the website footer and that residents do not get actual notice when their movement is measured in aggregated reports. He said the platform is valuable for planning but argued notice should be proactive so people can find the disclosure and understand how to limit sharing.
"I'm asking that a single member of this city council move to refer these 2 items to staff for a report back to council this fall with a written disposition of both," Casey said, requesting a short staff report and clearer outreach about what data the city receives and how residential addresses can be excluded from drawn report boundaries. City staff and council acknowledged the disclosure page and said staff would follow up with legal counsel and provide answers and a possible referral to staff.
