First Selectman Fred Camillo told the Board of Selectmen the town is monitoring a developing nor'easter and will make decisions about weekend events after an interagency call with emergency management scheduled for tomorrow.
“Latest call that the 1 of the models, I don't know if it was a European model, had us us getting 4 to 6 inches of rain with, consistent winds throughout the the weekend,” Camillo said, adding that multiple models show differing outcomes and the town will issue an announcement after the call.
Camillo listed several scheduled community activities — including the Greenwich 0.5 Marathon, a blessing of the animals, and a historic-properties presentation — and asked residents to stay tuned to the town’s e-blast and social channels for cancellations or logistical updates. He said the town will aim to make determinations “early afternoon” after tomorrow’s coordination call.
Why it matters: the board’s operational decisions (closures, cancellations, or public-safety staffing) hinge on the forecast and interagency guidance; the town is signaling that it will act before major events proceed.
The meeting closed with a reminder to “be careful out there,” and officials said they would provide additional updates if the situation changes.
